Hong Kong Launches Council for Testing and Certification
HONG KONG, Sept. 21 – The government launched the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification last week to serve as a consultant on government initiatives to develop the testing and certification industry.
The council will also look at business opportunities for the industry and more ways to improve professional standards. Hong Kong’s Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Rita Lau told Xinhua that testing and certification is one of the six economic areas identified by the Task Force on Economic Challenges for promotion. Hong Kong’s testing industry is respected in the Asian region because of its professionalism, integrity and global standards.
The new council will be led by Pro- Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Ching Pak-chung, who has who has extensive experience in the field while other council members will include testing industry, business sector, professional institute representatives as well as public and government departments.
