China’s FDI Statistics Up 7.7 Percent in the First Quarter of 2010
Apr. 15 – Foreign direct investment to China increased 7.7 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2010, up to US$23.44 billion, according to figures released by the Ministry of Commerce.
The number of newly-established foreign-funded enterprises amounted to 5,459 in the past three months, an increase of 19.87 percent from the corresponding period the previous year. The March statistics rose 28 percent year on year, with 2,296 newly-established foreign-funded enterprises.
China has moved to support foreign investment with the new regulations encouraging high-tech, service, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly projects.
“It has always been a major task for the Chinese government to provide a better environment and further facilitate trade and investment,” Vice Commerce Minister Ma Xiuhong said at a press conference on Tuesday.
