Regional Plan for Yangtze River Delta Approved
May 25 – China’s State Council and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) officially approved the regional plan for the Yangtze River Delta on Monday.
The regional plan focuses on developing the Yangtze River Delta into a key international gateway for the Asia-Pacific region, as well as an important global center for the modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry. The plan further aims to enhance the overall strength of the Yangtze River Delta region and its international competitiveness, and to promote national economic development.
The Yangtze River Delta covers an area of 210.7 thousand square kilometers region including Shanghai, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province. The region enjoys abundant natural resources, a solid economic base, and is expected to realize full modernization by 2020, according to NDRC.
