New Expressway Cuts Travel Time to Hebei by Half
Sept. 28 – The newly opened Beijing-Chengde Expressway has now cut travel time from Beijing to Hebei Province by half to two hours.
The new RMB6.2 billion road is expected to boost tourism for Hebei Province and will will charge RMB105 one way. “Because the expressway will greatly improve the transport network access to Chengde, and will bring us more tourists both from Beijing and other places,” Sun Lei, deputy director of Chengde tourism bureau told Xinhua.
The Beijing-Chengde expressway will be part of the Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway, which spans northeast China to south China. Chengde in Hebei Province has historic tourist sites and scenery. “I am not worried about the capacity of the new expressway, but for our city’s holding capacity, there will be some problems,” Sun said.
