Hundreds Turn Up for China Expat Book Launches in Beijing, Shanghai
Oct. 26 – Several hundred people turned up both for the Beijing and Shanghai China Expat book launch events held over the past week, underlining the popularity of the China Expat brand and adding to the already significant readership the publication enjoys. For the last 10 years, China Expat has provided a national Chinese cultural forum for expatriates in China, focusing on introducing Chinese history, art, literature, travel and observations about living in the country as a foil to the more business-focused China Briefing.
The events, which were sponsored by Time Out, Agenda Beijing, Servcorp, Gilt Edge, Global Times, China Entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Commerce’s China International Business Magazine, Dezan Shira & Associates, the state-owned Plainvim Industrial Park and the Italian vineyard Cremaschi Furlotti were held at the rooftop Q Bar in Beijing and the Park Tavern in Shanghai. Lucky draw prizes included vintage wines from Cremaschi Furlotti, bottles of champagne, luxury spa treatments from Hummingbird Retreat, cooking classes from The Hutong, gift boxes from D’Elysée and return flight tickets to Guilin.
The events took place to mark the launch of the new China Expat book, which contains nearly 50 articles about expatriate life and adventure in China from the past 10 years of the title’s existence. It has already attracted several thousand online downloads and is available for free, in PDF format from the China Expat web site. To view more photos from the events, please click here.
