China’s GDP Grows 11.1 Percent in First Half of 2010
BEIJING, Jul. 15 – China’s economy grew 11.1 percent in the first half of this year to RMB17.28 trillion, the National Bureau of Statistics said today.
The GDP growth was 3.7 percentage points higher compared with the same period last year, when the country was still feeling the effects of the Global Financial Crisis.
“China’s economy performed generally well in the first half and has developed according to the government’s macro regulation,” NBS spokesman Sheng Laiyun said.
While China’s GDP increased by 10.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, down from the country’s first quarter growth of 11.9 percent.
Beijing set the country’s annual economic growth target at 8 percent for 2010.
