China Law Deskbook Monthly Legal Update – Jun. 2011
Jun. 8 – Jim Zimmerman, the China managing partner of U.S. blue chip law firm Squire Sanders Dempsey is a good friend of China Briefing and is also both the Chairman Emeritus of Amcham China and the author of the China Law Deskbook – considered by many to be the bible of China law. Jim has recently introduced a monthly update service to the China Law Deskbook and has kindly given permission for China Briefing to host this each month.
Entitled “News and Views from Beijing,” the new June issue is attached as a complimentary download, and contains details of new laws, regulations, and policy trends. Included in this issue are Jim’s comments concerning:
- Transparency in China’s law-drafting process
- The discontinuation of pre-paid cash cards over RMB10,000 – which have regularly been used for corrupt purposes
- Judicial enforcement involving multiple jurisdictions in China
- The State Council’s recent issuance of regulations designed to encourage and supervise businesses set up as sole proprietorships
