Wind power
A wind power plant funded by Datang International Power Generation Co Ltd. will begin operations by April 2009. The first of the 33 wind turbines in Yellow River Delta Region is ready to commence operations. The RMB660 million wind farm has been added to Shandong Province’s medium- and long-term energy development plan.
Solar power
The Beijing’s Yanqing County’s solar thermal power tower obtained construction approval from the government. The project is expected to come on stream at the end of 2009 with annual production of 2.7 million kWh.
Hybrid vehicles
BYD Company Ltd. said it had released its first hybrid electric car F3DM in China. The vehicle will be available in Europe and the United States by 2010.
Air transport
In order to decrease its debt-to-asset ratio, Shanghai Airlines Co Ltd. plans to apply for financial aid from the government. Chairman Zhou Chi said that the amount will be smaller than China Southern and China Eastern Airline’s RMB3 billion cash injection.
Air China Ltd. saw its passengers reach 2.90 million in November, 4.9 percent higher compared to the same period last year. The passenger load factor dropped 3 percent for November while the total load factor decreased by 5.1 percent.
