Wind power
The first phase of the 49,500 kW Mayitasi wind power plant in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region’s Tacheng Laofengkou began operations on December 16. At its first phase, the RMB400 million plant has the production capacity of 120 million kWh per year. This is only part of a RMB4 billion and 500,000 kW wind farm expected to be operational in five years.
Solar power
China Sunergy Co. Ltd. announced that four new solar cell assembly lines came on stream. The company is operating 10 solar power cell lines, with a combined output of 320 MW.
Air transport
China Eastern Airlines has obtained approval from the Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council to raise RMB3 billion to improve its liquidity position.
Hainan Airlines Co. plans to start flying between Beijing and Kiev, Ukraine, beginning February 10, 2009.
China Southern Airlines plans to construct an Airbus maintenance center in Liaoning Province. The company will initially finance the project with RMB500 million and has a completion date of 2010.
Dragonair, a subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways, has launched a daily service between Hanoi, Vietnam and Hong Kong.
